Summer is almost upon us and there’s a host of exciting things to do in these parts. We still have some availability in our holiday cottages over the next few months so we hope we can tempt you with a stay here at West Heath Barn. You’ll find wonderful peace and tranquillity but in close proximity to the very best that North Norfolk to offer. To whet your appetite here’s a few ideas …

Houghton Hall (a 15 minute drive away) are staging an exhibition by the acclaimed British sculptor, Stephen Cox. “Myth” will be presented across the park, gardens and interiors of the hall. This represents the largest and most comprehensive group of work the artist has ever exhibited. Spanning over 40 years, it includes work from India to Egypt, Italy and the UK. Running until 28th September, you’ll find more details via the link here

On Wednesday 23rd July, there’s the 142nd Sandringham Flower, probably our favourite day out of the year.  This is one of the most prestigious horticultural events in the East of England but retains a wonderful informal feel – more like a very large village fete than a commercial event. It offers not only the best in horticulture but also an excellent day out, with loads of family entertainment. More details here – just 20 minutes from West Heath Barn.

Holkham never disappoints and they have an even bigger range of events, concerts and tours this year including the arrival of an outdoor cinema (great fun whatever the weather). For details of their programme see here

And if you fancy something altogether more peaceful (and free too), West Heath is looking gorgeous with a riot of wild flowers on display and offering boundless opportunity for walking the dog or simply taking a quiet stroll. This year the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) is undertaking a major new project which will run for a full year from May 2025 – the image here is from some of their early work produced in May. The Massingham Heath Project will see over thirty of their member artists follow the seasons and changing flora, fauna and landscape of an exciting rewilding project in West Norfolk. For more details see here

You’ll find full details on The Dairy and The Cart Lodge including prices and availability by following the links here, but if you have any questions or exceptional needs then don’t hesitate to get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
